RE

Intent
At Leverhulme Primary, the intent of our Religious Education (RE) curriculum is to inspire curiosity, respect, and understanding of different faiths, beliefs, and worldviews. Through a broad and balanced curriculum, we aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills to explore religion, spirituality, and morality, promoting personal reflection and the development of empathy.
We strive to create a safe, inclusive environment where all pupils feel confident to discuss their own beliefs and appreciate those of others. By learning about a variety of religious traditions, as well as secular worldviews, we help students understand the role of faith in shaping cultures, values, and communities. RE at our school encourages respect for diversity, fostering tolerance, open-mindedness, and an understanding of the importance of peace and unity in a multicultural society.
Through our RE curriculum, we aim to:
Promote knowledge and understanding of key beliefs, practices, and traditions from major world religions, including Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Hinduism, alongside secular worldviews.
Develop critical thinking skills that allow pupils to engage thoughtfully with questions about meaning, purpose, and morality.
Encourage personal reflection on spiritual, ethical, and philosophical questions, allowing pupils to explore their own beliefs and values.
Foster respect and tolerance, equipping pupils with the tools to engage positively with people of different faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds.
